The UFC produced a PPV worthy card to help usher in the new Fox Sports 1 network.
The card was loaded with great fights.
Here are the results from the card:
Michael Johnson def Joe Lauzon via unanimous decision. Johnson dominated this fight pretty much from the start.
John Howard def Uriah Hall via split decision. Uriah Hall was the favorite heading in to this fight. John Howard had other ideas. Hall started off with some serious aggression with Howard being able to survive. Howard then took over the fight not allowing Hall to do anything.
Matt Brown def Mike Pyle via KO (punches). Brown lit up Pyle with a right hook and a knee to start the fight off. Brown continued the beating with punches on the ground, causing the referee stoppage.
Urijah Faber def Yuri Alcantara via unanimous decision. Alcantara started this fight off really well, taking down Faber. He was able to get the mount and continue to drop some heavy punches to Faber. Faber was able to survive the early barrage to take control midway through the first round. Faber was able to gain the advantage while hitting Alcantara with some heavy elbows. After the first round Faber dominated this fight to easily win the judges decision.
Travis Browne def Alistair Overeem via KO. Overeem started this fight off with some serious shots landing to the body of Browne. It appeared that Overeem got a little over confident as he started to lean and all it took was one straight kick from Browne, to Overeem’s chin. Browne landed a couple of punches on the ground for good measure before the fight was stopped at 4:08 of the first round.
Chael Sonnen def Mauricio “Shogun” Rua via submission. This was a solid match as Sonnen showed why he is an amazing wrestler. He was able to take down Shogun early on. Shogun was able to get back up and take down Sonnen. Sonnen was able to get out of that and take control for good, ending the fight with a guillotine choke, with just seconds left in the fight.
The real show was after the fight when Chael Sonnen cut a WWE style promo, calling out Wanderlei Silva. Sonnen continues to show why he is still a top draw in the UFC. There is nobody better on the mic.
