UFC and fight fans around the world, don’t expect to see too much more of Ronda Rousey in the next couple of years. Once her upcoming November fight against Holly Holm is over, you may see Rousey fight in the octagon once a year. While the remainder of the year, she will be filming movies. It was just recently announced that she will be starring in MGM’s Road House reboot. Road House was a cult classic in the 1980’s and Rousey will be in the main role, previously played by Patrick Swayze.

Filming for the movie will not begin until 2016 but Rousey has already appeared in some major movies recently. She has only had minimal roles in those movies but the recent call up to the main role in Road House, will change the landscape of the UFC women’s bantamweight division. Rousey recently stated on the “Joe Rogan Experience”, that she does not want to be fighting into her 30’s and is pretty steadfast on that statement.

Rousey, who is only 28, seems to be going along the same lines of fellow fighter, Gina Carano. Carano got a taste of the big screen and seemingly never looked back. Rousey is heading down that path. It is a well-known fact that Rousey is a hardcore wrestling fan and there was a lot of buzz after her recent appearance at Wrestlemania, alongside The Rock.

With that being said, there is a very good chance that after the filming of these movies, you will see more of Rousey in the WWE, than you will see her in the UFC. With the filming of two movies in 2016, where she will have a prominent role, setting aside almost three full months for a fight camp seems impossible. It is much easier to set aside a date or two for a wrestling appearance, than to take three months to train for a title fight.

Where does this leave the UFC? The promotion has suffered losses of many great fighters throughout their time and this is no different. There may not be another fighter like Rousey ever again, but there are certainly marketable fighters. Paige VanZant is the first name that comes to mind when it comes to a marketable fighter. While VanZant is not even in the same stratosphere as Rousey, she can be used as a very useful promotional piece.

The UFC has been able to ride the coat tails of Rousey and her dominance to make a lot of money via pay-per-view for her fights. She will always be welcome back anytime she wants even if it is only for one big money fight per year.
