In front of record setting crowd, Holly Holm stunned the MMA world and tossed the UFC into a frenzy. She did the impossible by knocking out Ronda Rousey. It was a perfect game plan implemented by Holm’s coaches and executed by her as she can call herself the champion. Coming into this night, nobody gave Holm a chance to win. As with every Rousey fight, the question was how long it would take for her to finish her opponent.

Holm dismissed all of those thoughts quickly in the first round as the aggressiveness of Rousey seemed to backfire on her. Holm, the former world champion boxer, does not pack the punch that you would expect from a boxer. It was her movement and conditioning that caused Rousey problems. From the opening, you could see that Holm was incredibly prepared and came for a fight. After the first round Rousey seemed gassed while Holm was just the opposite.

Holm was able to dance in an out, landing powerful shots in between. Holm landed many combinations in that first round opened her up with a nice glancing elbow about two minutes into the fight. Holm landed a massive left hook, stunning Rousey with over a minute left in the first round. It was an overwhelming advantage for Holm after the first round.

The second round was like much of the first with Holm firing on all cylinders, landing numerous punches. The point that stands out as the turning point in this fight was just over 30 seconds into the round. Rousey went for a left hook and Holm ducked it, causing Ronda to stumble to the mat. It was then, when Rousey stood up, stunned and embarrassed, that you knew this was just not her night. Holm was able to finish her off with a kick that landed flush on the side of her head, knocking her out. Holm pounced on top of the unconscious Rousey and landed a few shots before Herb Dean stopped the fight, stunning the world at what had just been done.
