This weekend is one of the best weekends in sports. It‘s the opening weekend of college football. Even though the season kicked off last weekend, it gets going this week. Last night saw the much hyped Tennessee Volunteers get extremely lucky, escaping with a 20-13 overtime victory over Appalachian State and Louisville hang 70 points on UNC Charlotte. It was kind of expected for Louisville to dominate Charlotte like that, however, it was not expected for Louisville QB Lamar Jackson to account for eight touchdowns.

The American Athletic Conference didn‘t have that great of an opening night. Both Cincinnati and UConn struggled in victory against FCS opponents, while Tulane fell 7-3, in a very boring game at Wake Forest. Tonight, three more ranked teams are in action as Michigan State, Baylor and Stanford all take the field. As we will every week, myself and Jin Kim will look ahead each week at the top storylines and predictions for the top games of the week. This week is a little different since this is the opening weekend so this article is much shorter. However, for more information, check out my season preview here to get you prepared for the action this week. Jin will also not be available for the next few weeks so for now, you will not see his predictions.
