Last weekend saw one of the greatest games in the history of the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry and the first-time Pac-12 Conference championship birth for the Colorado Buffaloes. Coach PJ Fleck and Western Michigan are looking to infiltrate one of the New Year’s Six bowl games with a win over Ohio in the MAC Championship. This weekend will finalize the college football playoff picture. With that being said, the eyes of the college football world will be focused on the first set of games tonight.
1. It’s Conference Championship week
The college season is rapidly coming to a close and there numerous teams looking to get into the playoff discussion. The MAC and Pac-12 kick off championship weekend tonight with their games. If Western Michigan and Colorado win their respective games, the playoff and the New Year’s six bowl games could be interesting with their matchups.
2. Can Big 10 get more than two teams into playoff?
The Big 10 has been the premier conference in the country this season. Currently, there are four teams from the Big 10 that are in the top 10 playoff rankings. With Ohio State almost guaranteed a spot, if all falls into place, the Big 10 could get three teams into the college football playoff.
3. Pac-12 Champion and ACC Champion could throw wrench into playoff
As mentioned above, the college football playoff could be crazy with wins by Colorado and Virginia Tech in the Pac-12 and ACC championship games respectively. Will Michigan or Colorado sneak into the playoff? Will the Big 10 get three teams into the playoff? These are some of the questions that the committee will need to address at the end of this weekend. As college football fans, this is something that we can all root for.
