Last summer, FC Cincinnati shocked the American soccer market, drawing 35,061 in a summer friendly against one of the oldest clubs in England, Crystal Palace F.C. This year, the crew at FC Cincinnati have an agreement to bring one of the most successful clubs in Spain, Valencia CF to Nippert Stadium. The visit from one of the most successful clubs in La Liga to Nippert, once again is a message to the soccer world that FC Cincinnati is no joke.
Valencia is a club that is known to fans around the world for their incredible success in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Valencia is a six-time winner of La Liga and seven-time winner of the Copa del Rey, which is the Spanish equivalent of the FA Cup in England or the US Open Cup in the United States.
The club has seen some of the best players in the world wear their jersey, most notably, David Villa. Now, Valencia boasts a solid roster that features Spanish forward Rodrigo and former Manchester United winger, Nani. Bringing in a club with the stature of Valencia is another big move by FC Cincinnati. A team like Valencia coming into Nippert should certainly bring another massive crowd.
Valencia brings a great following and fantastic reputation to the Queen City. For more information, check out the English version of the club website here.
