It was another week where big games took center stage. In an all GCL weekend, Moeller went on the road and smoked Lasalle. Each week, Moeller continues to show why they are one of the top teams in Ohio and the country. With a matchup with Elder looming next week, Moeller was not distracted by the task at hand. In the other GCL South matchup and one of the most surprising results of the season, the Elder Panthers destroyed St. Xavier 42-10 at the Pit.
Just like last week, Kings and Winton Woods garnered big victories, ahead of their highly anticipated matchup this week. Winton Woods running back and Georgia Tech commit, Trey Cornist rushed for 343 yards, a career high on only 18 carries. Add in a school record six touchdowns and you can say Mr. Cornist had himself a night. It was needed to help the Warriors take care of business against Anderson. After going into halftime down 24-21, the Warriors exploded for 41 points in the second half. The other unbeaten team in the ECC, the Kings Knights went on the road and knocked off West Clermont. The game was closer than some expected but the Knights got it down, setting up a massive showdown this week.
The lone non-Ohio team, East Central from Indiana returned to the rankings after a shutout victory over Batesville two weeks ago. Once again, the Trojans took care of business, this time destroying undefeated South Dearborn 48-6. East Central has only one loss on the season and that was to the top team in the rankings, Moeller.

With the high school season on the backstretch, the importance of games continues to increase. That is the case once again this week with two massive games on the schedule. First, the Moeller Crusaders and Elder Panthers face off at Nippert Stadium with the GCL South title on the line. Aside from their close victory over St. X two weeks ago, the Crusaders have handled business with relative ease. Can Moeller stay hot and capture another GCL South title? The other massive matchup is the much talked about game in the ECC between two unbeatens, when the Winton Woods Warriors travel to face the Kings Knights. This is also a game where the winner could win the conference championship. With four games left, anything can happen but the winner of this game is in the drivers seat to capture the ECC. Another matchup to keep an eye on is when the Mason Comets travel a few miles west to face the Lakota West Firebirds. Can the stingy Comets defense keep Lakota West at bay? These are just a few of the questions that will be answered after this great weekend of high school football.
This week, ISC will be at Kings when they host Winton Woods for the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown, so stay tuned for live coverage from that big ECC matchup.
