Another week in high school football and it was another week where the Moeller Crusaders destroyed another opponent. As each week moves on in the season, Moeller continues to pummel every team that has been put in front of them. Two weeks ago, it was St. Xavier that Moeller pounded. This week, it was the Elder Panthers. Nippert Stadium was the site of this beatdown. This game was over at the half, with Moeller leading 42-7. The Crusaders amassed 250 yards on the ground and 401 yards of total offense. Elder turned the ball over four times which ultimately led to their downfall. Jordan Marshall rushed for 138 yards on 10 carries with 4 touchdowns. With the Crusader victory, the GCL South crown is once again Moeller’s.

In the other massive game this week, Winton Woods traveled to Kings to face the Knights. The Warriors left Kings Mills with a 28-23 victory. The victory puts Winton Woods at the top of the ECC, with three weeks remaining before the playoffs. The Greater Miami Conference is another conference that is one big battle. Key victories for Lakota West, Princeton and Fairfield all kept them within striking distance for the GMC title. Lakota West who has rolled all season, remained undefeated with a 37-7 victory over Mason. The Firebirds defense has only given up 40 points all season. The Princeton Vikings shut out a disappointing Oak Hills team, 42-0. The Fairfield Indians kept pace with the top teams with a big 34-13 win over rival Hamilton. Outside of the GMC, the Badin Rams, who entered the rankings last week and continue to show why they remain a powerhouse in Division III. Badin went on the road and crushed a solid Kettering Alter team, 42-14.

The East Central Trojans, from Indiana, continue to represent the Hoosier state in the rankings. This week they handled business, thumping Connersville on the road, 42-14. As mentioned previously, East Central has only one loss on the season and that was to the top team in the rankings, Moeller. The Bluegrass state has two teams who have entered the rankings. Covington Catholic and Beechwood join the party. The Cov Cath Colonels destroyed Boone County 43-0, giving them their sixth straight victory. Beechwood took care of Dixie Heights, giving the Tigers their fifth win of the season.

The high school football season is continuing to wind down, making each game of more importance. The playoffs are just around the corner and teams are looking to battle for seeding. Once again this week there are some massive matchups. The top three teams in the rankings all go on the road in key matchups. Top ranked Moeller heads to Cleveland to face perennial power, Cleveland St. Ignatius. Winton Woods heads east to face Milford in a huge game in the ECC. In the GMC, Lakota West heads west to face a solid Fairfield team. With these huge games so late in the season, the slightest slip up could prove costly for some of these teams. Can these teams avoid the big upset in what will be another great weekend of high school football.
